This modern renovation to a 5-story townhouse in the West Village is a now home to a young family, marking a move from their Soho loft to a residence that better accommodates the spatial needs of a growing family. The ground floor maintains a loft-like quality with an open floor plan connecting the foyer, living room, dining room, and kitchen. The kitchen is framed on one side with a folding glass wall that opens fully, providing access to an intimate rear yard. The modern stair features dark walnut, metal, and a unique, delicate woven leather railing detail. On the second floor, the living room opens onto a glass block terrace floor, flooding the kitchen below with natural light. The house is infused with the spirit of the residents, celebrating their personal collection of art and furniture. Throughout, additional pieces of furniture were custom- designed to integrate seamlessly with both the eclectic furnishings and contemporary architectural design, including a custom credenza and multiple built-in storage and desk solutions. The most intimate areas of the home, the bathrooms and master suite, evoke warmth and simplicity with a touch of whimsy, as color, pattern, and texture are used to complement the neutral architectural palette.
