The Master Plan of the Science, Technology and Social Park (PCTS) of Santa María del Mar, promoted by the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP), is part of a strategic project whose main objective is the transformation of peruvian society through the university, understood as a source of generation and dissemination of knowledge. The concentration of geostrategic projects at both, territorial and local levels, is turning Santa Maria del Mar - a small coastal town of marked seasonal character with little more than 1,500 inhabitants in the moments of greater tourist influx - into a geostrategically privileged location, whose major challenge is the transformation of both infrastructural and socioeconomic, in order to home more than 45,000 inhabitants in a term not exceeding 10 years. The 45 hectares of the park is located within a delicate desert ecosystem bordering the Pacific Ocean, of great scenic value. The uniqueness of the natural ecosystem will contribute to generate an ecosystem of knowledge in which innovation, creativity, integration of technology and respect for nature in both energy and environmental terms will be the key principles.
