Catholic-Social Institute Michaelsberg Abbey

The historic Michaelsberg Abbey was revived after extensive renovation and refurbishment as a modern conference centre and hotel. A new building was added, contrasting the abbey with a modern component. The site’s identity, however, was preserved, the famous silhouette maintained. Everywhere one can experience a peaceful coexistence of old and new. The former monk’s cells radiate a calm-contemplative atmosphere – the spirit of the building remains tangible for visitors. A minimal design harmoniously integrates contrasts of tradition and progress, making them coexist at a respectful distance.
