Returning to the idea that public infrastructure once played a vital role in recreation around America’s urban centers in the 1800’s, we celebrated this 10-acre reservoir as a cultural artifact. Topographic markers indicating the water line allows visitors to experience ‘plunging’ into the former watersheet and a carved granite map of the water supply system helps contextualize and illustrate how water resources are delivered. Fully accessible pathways connect the artful play elements, prospect points and plantings that give the park scale, seasonal interest and a rich botanical future.
