Manatj Park is a new connection within the Western Australian Government’s Perth City Link project. It is a point of crossing, a place of temporary meeting, and inhabitation, a place of respite and relaxation from the intensity of the city. Formed by the crossing of pathways to encourage chance encounters, Manatj Park is inspired by the historical wetlands and lakes that once existed on this site and the meeting of different cultures. A surface of meandering washed concrete binds the site. A series of islands follow the banded patterning of the ground surface, providing places to relax.
