Extensive academic research has demonstrated the benefits that views of trees and green spaces provide, including enhanced educational performance through improved attention rates and reduced stress levels. The new Sixth Form Centre at St Teresa’s aims to maximise this benefit, improving the connection from the School to the natural landscape around it. The building is made up of two blocks joined by a covered courtyard, with a tree at its centre, which acts as the main entry point and circulation space and provides a clear visual connection from a new ‘Sixth Form Quad’ to the woodland beyond.
