In contrast to all the fast traffic and the busy transitional zones around the Burne House's site, making and viewing art needs a place of contemplation, which is what this project offers. Also, one building cannot resolve all the surrounding urban issues, but it can critique them and encourage change. So, in a city where there is a place to go fast and a place to stand still, the architecture itself has to fulfil a certain role in the face of a growing mass of infrastructure and acceleration; it has to provide a specific inertia against the instability of life itself.
