The century old Victoria Palace Theatre is Grade II Listed. The project included rebuilding the stage house, widening the proscenium opening, refurbishing the auditorium and original foyers, creating new public areas and backstage spaces. A 6m wide strip of land gifted to the venue as part of the larger regeneration scheme allows the opportunity to rebuild the stage and fly-tower. Other shortcomings were also addressed: limited audience foyers and bars, poorly distributed WCs, confused and segregated circulation, poor accessibility and insufficient ventilation.
