Saemoonan Church as the place of Brotherly love Saemoonan Church is the first church in Korea and it was established 132 years ago. Curvaceous wall façade of the new church building resembles the form of the mother embracing the child since the church is widely known as “Mother Church – Notre-Dame of Korea. Design principle of the Saemoonan church is based upon the 4 main ideas. 1. Historic significance as “Mother Church of Korea” 2. Symbol for the “Door of Salvation” towards the Kingdom of Heaven. 3. Light and Space as the symbol of Christ. 4. Water as the symbol of the Baptism
