Stray Bird at Yellow River is a cutting-edge recreational space for short-stays in one of China’s most magnificent locales: an oasis encircled by the Yellow River and Tengger Desert in Ningxia’s Autonomous Region. The architecture is compelled to challenge the traditional rammed-earth building typography, re-present itself in an ecological and airy structure. As such, it engenders a new definition for localization, pushing for pre-fabrication and higher construction quality in rural China. Such a design inspires continuing discussions of architectural transparency, bringing a new chapter in Chinese tourism.
