A young couple commissioned us to renovate a 500 sqm house in China with a distinctive character. Space and form were the key protagonists in this renovation. A refined wooden staircase is introduced to provide a bold statement at the core of the house. It connects all four levels, creates a consistent feature and became a sculptural solution. Besides, all light from central atrium reached peripheral areas and redefined the space. Finally, subtle and minimal backdrop details were applied against the spectacular sculpture; creating a strong spatial flow & focal point to the entire environment.
