People love porcelain, but pay little attention to the brick kiln that fires it. What if a kiln fires itself? Special sintered bricks were glazed and re-fired, then laid to build this kiln-shaped installation with a unique transmutation glaze of Celedon on skin. At night, a young couple lights candles inside. Through holes between bricks, it looks as if a thousand-year-old kiln fire has added a layer of shiny gloss to the outside enamel. It freezes a moment of flambé glaze on site, which reminds the locals of their heritage of firing Celedon pottery, at a street corner in downtown Lishui.
