Last Ice Lullaby

Responding to the brief of designing a theater in Jamaica Pond, the project grafts itself on the park’s cycle of water in order to stage the appearance and disappearance of Ice through a series of poetic natural performances. The year-long show brings back to the pond some of its past ice-trade industrial narrative while giving representation to the changing climate of New England with a performance relying on delicate climatic factors. The song of the Ice melting over cymbals in Spring plays until all the ice is molten; how long will it last this year? How many more years will it play at all?
