The original carriage house dates back to the late 1800's. Our challenge was to create spatial continuity within the historic building. We achieved this by working simultaneously on horizontal and vertical planes, opening up the layout so to maximize the flow of daylight and by giving special attention to the materials chosen. The soft white walls & oak wood used throughout create a warming flow, tying the different spaces together throughout the house. The new stairwell, bold in its design, is a vessel of light and a continuous visual reference throughout the new home.
