Joyce is a 30-storey residential tower that adds vibrancy to a growing transit-oriented area, while honouring the site’s context. The architecture takes inspiration from the community’s multicultural character; a celebration of diversity expressed through the symbolism of a patterned quilt applied as overlapping patterns of coloured glass. Layered over the metaphorical quilt is the outline of Still Creek, a local body of water which has seen a return of spawning salmon for the first time in decades. Inspired by this renewal, the building’s façade echoes the river’s sinuous form.
