Interdisciplinary Ceramic Research Center (ICRC) provides space, equipment and expertise to artists and other disciplines at the University of Kansas (KU). Terracotta installations were designed and fabricated by KU Architecture students in collaboration with KU Ceramics and NBK Terracotta. Tiles were produced with a hybrid workflow - designs were fabricated using CNC-milled plaster molds, ram press and hand-press techniques to blend traditional ceramics with contemporary technologies. Patterns were derived from microscopic images of clay and other natural elements.
