The project envisions how instead of being demolished due to a non-heritage status, an obsolete ruined ‘Pigment’ factory (1990) could be integrated into everyday life of the surrounding newly redeveloped residential area in such a way, that would enrich the urban fabric of St. Petersburg and enable opportunities for a sustainable future on the basis of industrial ruins. The new functional program was designed with acknowledgement of valuable characteristics of the architectural typology, analysis of the lacking functions in the district, and creative interpretation of key features of a ruin.
