The brief was redevelop the site with 36 apartments over six floors, with basement car parking, to create a high-quality flagship building for the client’s portfolio of serviced apartments in London. The site has a double aspect, facing west onto Wellington Road and east onto Cochrane Street. The design reflects the two distinct contexts, reading as two buildings. The facade to the more eclectic Wellington Street side is clad in limestone. The Cochrane Street building, where the context is brick residential buildings, dating from 1920’s to 1960’s is of Roman brick. There is a shared core.
