Sea Plane Lagoon Ferry Terminal is a civic icon that not only urbanistically but also environmentally enhances the Alameda, CA waterfront. Landside project improvements include part of the San Francisco Bay Trail, a public amenity that circumvents the entire Bay. The terminal design artfully exploits the projection of sea level rise which justifies a dramatic approach of ramps and steps leading to a terminal floor raised above the Bay Trail. The fabric roof creates a translucent medium that transforms the terminal into a luminous beacon at dusk, dawn, and evening.
