The Sustainable Energy Engineering Building creates a new academic and research facility for Simon Fraser University’s Surrey campus, an integrated academic precinct within Surrey’s City Centre. The animated façade of alternating white precast panels and reflective glazing – derived from circuit board imagery – floats above a porous ribbon of transparent glazing, inviting students and the community to engage. Within, the soaring atrium showers natural light and is infused with nature, promoting health and wellbeing while accommodating interdisciplinary, multi-use, and multi-scale functions.
