Little wooden houses for Tibetan Buddhist monks and nuns sprawl all over the Larung valley at an elevation of about 4,000m. When I lose track of the path connecting the red blocks on the slope of the mountain, I always hear the sutras from somewhere. The Larung-Gar is the largest and influential center of Tibetan Buddhist studies in the world.
