I have been photographing from and around NYC's elevated train lines, and similar structures like the Harlem Viaduct and the High Line, at dusk. As with my other twilight projects, this time of shifting light singled out shapes and patterns in architecture and infrastructure while hiding details in shadow. These higher vantage points offer unique views of neighborhoods, while photographs taken underneath these structures can show how they can frame nearby buildings. This series reveals how the els, the viaduct, and the High Line influence our aesthetic perception of the city's architecture.
