As a bird would draw from its immediate surroundings, the folly recycled what lay before to create a nest: nature’s contextual architecture. Built for the Brick Bay Wines and Sculpture Trail, The Nest is an adaptive reuse scheme which recycles 90% of the 2x4 timber members of the previous 2019 folly situated on the same site. The design incorporates an internal and external skin for both structure and contrast between arrival and entrance; while straddling the fine line between organic form and geometric composition through interweaved alternating pentagons.
