Helsinki has a long history as a hub city and is one of the busiest ports in the world with more than 12m passengers in 2017. The site is in a waterfront area with long sides touching water, street, and park. The short sides are facing main entrance and terminals. The concept rethinks the question: how does the museum engage with the city and the context? Helsinki Hub Museum works as a hub that welcomes the neighborhood by linking specific site characters: public, infrastructure, program, and nature, as well as providing an opportunity being passed through rather than forming a solid box.
