During the planning design period, the architect had been thinking about how to reflect the reminiscence of traditional village and houses and offer the guests a comfortable and natural leisure experience, while blending the building into the natural environment of the countryside. Relationship within courtyards of Chinese traditional house is eventually applied to the whole architectural space. Through the changes of linear relationship and scale of different courtyards, guests could feel the hint of space which indicates the gradual transition from public area to private area. All guest rooms are open to the natural scenery but not accessible from the courtyard. In this way, guests’ privacy is guaranteed and great view for the room is available. The two-floors building conforms to the natural rugged terrain and echoes with the mountain view through taking advantage of the difference in slopes of the roofs. In consideration of environmental protection, massive local materials and construction methods are used in the construction of the building and the interior space.
