The owners, a Mexican chef and his wife, from Japan, emphasized on the sincerity of their plates, and how they don’t hide natural flavors and looks of their food with other ingredients that aren’t necessary. They wanted a modern place, a reinterpretation of the Japanese culture, but not in a literal way. Wood was used as an interpretation of Japanese lattices, where its exposed veins is an answer to the sincerity of the food served in the restaurant; this reminds us the natural lines in fresh fish dishes. On the ceiling and on the back wall, wood plays an important role, it contains the whole restaurant, creating a warmer atmosphere that lowers the restaurant’s scale and provides acoustic comfort. The position of the wooden elements on the ceiling allows the costumers to have different experiences each time they visit the place. During the evening, some of the ceiling elements are accentuated with indirect lightning. At the back wall, there is a traditional zen garden. It is a distribution element which creates vestibules for the restrooms on one side and for the kitchen on the other.
