The hotel is designed as a secret garden in the buzzing precinct of Seminyak, Bali and is a distinctive blend of contemporary architecture woven with vertical greens, green roofs, landscaped terraces and naturally ventilated by ocean breezes. Sensitive site planning included the preservation of the landowner’s family home and an ancestral temple that has stood on the site for generations. The resort comprises of a cluster of buildings positioned around the central temple and are all connected by an open-air garden corridor. This is a contemporary reflection of traditional Balinese family compound life and merges seamlessly with its environment. Housed in four separate buildings, the rooms and suites are designed to maximize views and blur the distinction between inside and outside. A touch of the destination can be found in unique details such as custom designed lamps and furniture using a contemporary interpretation of Balinese batik and design motifs. All architectural and interior finishes are made entirely from local materials. Alila Seminyak is the first resort in Indonesia to surpass the EarthCheck standards and has become a leading development in sustainable design.
