This is an institutional interior design project for the United Christian College East Kowloon (UCCEK) in Hong Kong. As instructed from the Hong Kong Education Bureau, schools should implement the STEM system (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) in their teaching program. This project requires a total refurbishment to the existing classroom and converts it to a highly flexible space in order to implement the STEM teaching environment. The floor plan is divided into different zones (VR Zone, Modelling, Collaborative space, star lab., etc.) while maintaining a clean open space. The landscaping of the seating area is a huge breakthrough of the traditional school environment in Hong Kong. Not only allow students to seat and chit chat in a casual way but intentionally designed to improve their interest of learning. Furniture is best-poked to be flexible in moving around and to assemble into different group sizes.
