The millenary extraction of the salt has left an indelible mark on the island of Formentera. But since 1984, the landscape has suffered a relentless degradation. The project pursues to rebuilt the old paths so people can visit them. At the end of the promenade lies the salt windmill, a centenarian building proposed as a museum. The intervention in it links past and present, earth and air. The basement is excavated in the heavy rock, while the ground floor is light and acrobatic. The old windmill’s tower is transformed into a giant light well to bring brightness to the history inside of it.
