Pervasive Peripheries: On Defining a New Suburban Ecology

Project locationWestwood, Boston

Determining that the downsides of this suburban region include the abundance of impervious surfaces and all-around homogeneity, we propose to allow for the messy, aggressive, fine textures and heterogeneity of nature to take over. Our goals are to increase walkability through our mobility loop, create jobs with a new Startup campus, create a regional destination, and improve access to fresh produce while reinforcing the sense of suburban community through communal plots and green spaces; All this through a developed ecological framework, which involves weaving, layering, and interconnection.
