IN BETWEEN is a modular surface structure of adaptive solar cells that respond to sun impulses through their material intelligence. In the sense of heliotropism, the bending force of a shape memory alloy animates sun exposed modules to independently straighten up, linking acute shading with efficient solar energy harvesting. Shaded modules return to a resting state, allowing the view and light to pass through. The smart, spontaneous realignment not only increases the energy output but also enriches the space behind with a balanced microclimate and a dynamic interplay between light and shadow.
