This 180,000-square-foot patient and research facility, located in Brookhaven, Ga., is designed to invoke the feeling of a journey exploring the human body’s bones and muscles. The exterior curvilinear facade displays fluidity and motion with very few hard angles, except for the purposefully angular research center, which represents looking toward the future in both research breakthroughs and patient outcomes. Interior design elements are inspired by human anatomy, including floor and ceiling patterns that resemble muscle/tendon movement and glass patterned to look like nerves.
