Yangshan Sport Climbing Centre for the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games is the world's first fully functional, permanent climbing competition venue, located in a thousand-year-old abandoned quarry site. The image of a cocoon is inspired by the region's rich history in silk and textiles, with the perforated Ultra-High Performance Concrete (UHPC) skin, connecting city's heritage to its bright future. Marrying cutting-edge technologies, the center will live on as a civic sports hub after the games, promoting urban development and infusing the city with vitality through the culture of climbing sports.
