Festival Plaza makes up the public space of the El Gouna Conference and Culture Centre. The completed project consists of a large public space of island plazas on an artificial lagoon, surrounded by protective colonnades made up of arched barrel vaults. It currently has capacity as an open-air venue and will eventually be activated by a 600-seat concert hall and 2,000-seat conference centre. The aesthetic impact of this outdoor design is the creation of an oasis-like space, protected from the sun and incorporating the cooling effects of water flow and wind protection systems.
