Shor House is a personal family retreat where friends and artists can convene to create. At the heart of this project lies an exploration of responses to challenges such as salvage and reuse; sensitivity of construction in a natural setting; and layering in of environmental principles in a non-overt way. Just as the most energy efficient building is conserving one already built, the most progressive edge of designing with wood is to recycle it into continued use. This project represents a test bed of recycling, a zero-take approach built from a palette of reclaimed materials.
