Picnic Design created a built-in storage unit with nooks for two kids in their tween years. The goal is to create "a space of one's own", so each has their own private space. However, the two nooks are distinct but not separated. Within their nooks, a secret passage, for when the kids change their minds and want to connect with each other. As they get older, it will simply become a window to pass objects, but for now, they are still small enough to squeeze through. It has proven to be most useful in hide and seek.
