Adjacent to Shanghai’s inner ring road and planned from the '60s,Xujiahui Sports Park is city’s sports landmark.Historically focused on professional events, it lacked public sports function. Embedded in a dense urban context, its green spaces were fragmented and inaccessible by disorganized traffic and buildings. The design aims to preserve the stadiums while reorganizing the space into “one axis, two wings”. Historical venues form an event axis, the rest is divided into two green parks. Quality public spaces are created.As landscape architecture,New Sports Complex is built for public sports.
