Farmland in the UAE challenges the notion of the desert by existing as patterns of human and productive settlement in the extreme landscape. These communities need an urban/architectural vision to enhance their livable potential. Indeed, they could be sustainable alternatives to Arab metropolises' expansion in the desert. The village of Margham is the project's site. The design foresees the construction of a mixed-use complex leveraging the agricultural vocation of the place. Local culture, living systems, and sustainable materials/technologies are holistically integrated into the design process.
