This project centers around the importance of integrating the human element in the development of blue-green infrastructure (BGI) design. “Rising with the Phoenix” means the re-emergence of social, cultural connections with water as part of the local communal identity. It is the re-invigoration of local ecosystems and hydrology that is currently suppressed, restricted. It is an emphasis on changing perspectives on water, flooding, the river, to recognize their values and re-integrate the people with these living systems. It is about working with water, living with water, and rising with water.
