Located in an environmentally sensitive area pressured by tourism and inappropriate developments, this project aims to emphasize the importance of protecting endangered sea turtles. Morphologically, the structure’s curved roof visually integrates it into the rolling landscape; the subterranean design ensures it is unimposing. The hybrid construction uses engineered timber, addressing climate change, along with steel. With a lack of long-term evidence, the integrity of engineered timber is experimentally proven, hence the inclusion of steel counteracts the potential for future critical defects.
