This prototype shows how small urban infill sites can help solve NYC's housing crisis by using design-based solutions to add-value, reduce cost & make compact units desirable places to live. Only 16’-7” wide, this 7,300sf building uses modular construction to reduce cost & time of construction while increasing quality & safety. With 2 studio units per floor, the project becomes financially viable, providing a green roof, community room & fully accessible elevator. The facade proposes a respectfully restrained contemporary design that responds to the neighboring row of historical brownstones.
