The Makerspace is a net zero community fabrication facility connecting classrooms, studios, galleries, workshops, and lecture spaces in a neighborhood-like setting. Designed with a commitment to sustainability, the building features a solar panel canopy that serves as both a shading device and a thermal buffer. The canopy’s undulation and the solar panels’ tilt angle are optimized for energy generation, daylight autonomy, and glare tailored to the buildings' programmatic needs and lighting conditions. The project uses environmental simulation and energy analysis to follow net zero guidelines.
