The coal-fired factory heritage, forgotten for a century, is being renovated with sustainable architecture. The spatial energy of the coal-fired is transformed into a co-creative, co-learning bookstore, restaurant, and multi-functional plaza. Sunlight, air, and water create an urban forest that connects the city,people, and nature, and opens up a dialogue between generations, using what exists to create what is to be through daylighting, ventilation, water collection plazas, and energy conservation and sustainability. The Big Chimney will be an image of home in the hearts of local residents.
