The Montecassino Abbey is the famous Benedictine monastery in Cassino, province of Frosinone (Italy) founded in 529 by s. Benedetto da Norcia, in an area where the temple of Apollo once stood, was destroyed four times: lastly in 1944. It is one of the most important places of worship in Italy. The photos show the Bramante cloister, so called precisely because the original structure was conceived and designed by the great Renaissance architect in 1595, 30 meters wide and 40 meters long including the steps, and the cloister of the Benefactors with arcades dating back to 1666.
