Istanbul Modern’s new building, designed by Renzo Piano and opened in May 2023, replaced its original building on the Bosphorus waterfront. The design of the building was inspired by the glittering waters and light reflections of the Bosphorus. Like a leaping sea creature suspended in the air, the building's transparent design allows for visual interaction between the sea and Tophane Park behind it. Across 10,500 square meters, new museum building provides space for a dynamic range of temporary exhibitions, educational programs, film screenings, and an extensive art collection.
