The rehabilitation and extension of the former “Indústria Alimentar Trofense” buildings into the Trofa City Hall is the result of a limited architecture competition won by NOARQ team in 2016, for the youngest municipality in Portugal, the one that didn’t have an institutional building. The building arises from the rehabilitation of industrial heritage. The site was a narrow strip of land parallel to the old railway line, with an area of 6,200.85 sqm. The proposal is a building with 6.700 sqm, 1.996 sqm of footprint and an height of 17.14 m. We designed it sober: a single material and color.
