The Allan Border Oval Pavilion is a sports facility in Sydney, Australia. The building addresses both the traditional built context and the needs of a contemporary sporting venue. Precedents showed that similar venues were often served by two separate buildings, a grandstand and a club house. The proposal combines these two as a concrete podium beneath a singular roof. To achieve column-free views to the field, the roof is supported from the centre like an umbrella. Parts of the demolished pavilion were reused such as recycled rubble in the concrete mix and formwork utilising the roof timbers.
