虎门, "Tiger Town", symbolizes China's modern history and the Greater Bay Area's international and technology prowess. The station design embodies the Chinese phrase "如虎添翼," a wish for the city's further raising. As the third busiest in the south China, this project includes a renovated HSR station, expanded facilities, and a TOD-based development with offices, residences, and a mall, all connected by urban platform. This 2013-built station, initially for 500, faced a capacity crunch with 60,000 daily passengers by 2019, prompting this renewal—the first of its kind without halting rail service.
