Though The Mountain by BIG is well-known and has been around for years, I still find it among the most exciting and innovative housing projects I know of. As the name suggests, it's designed with inspiration from a mountain village, where houses lie side by side down a mountain slope—making one man's roof another man's garden. I love that on one side, the building has an urban, colorful, and modern expression made with metal, concrete, and vivid colors, while on the other, it is organic, friendly, and warm due to the use of wood and an abundance of vines.
