Public space, central to ancient Greece, is changing today due to commercial interests, gentrification and technology. Isamu Noguchi emphasised the importance of social connection in public spaces. Edward Soja's ‘Third Space’ concept emphasises their social role. The novel about the utopian pirate island of Libertalia serves as a metaphor for transparent, participatory spaces. This work emphasises the urgency of addressing the loss of public spaces and promoting their revitalisation.
